Hammered Heron 2024 - Phoenix White Wine

Wines of Great Britain Midlands & North Silver Award

Don’t worry - this heron may be hammered, but this wine keeps things light. Made from cool-climate Phoenix grapes, it’s a crisp, dry white with bright citrus charm and a gentle touch.

Easy-drinking and refreshingly simple, it’s your go-to for lazy lunches, garden chatter, and second glasses.

Silver award winner at the Regional Wine GB challenge. We enjoy this wine with a nice Indian curry. What will you pair your bottle with?

Tasting notes

A very pale, silver-green wine with a fresh and expressive aromatic profile.

The nose combines crisp apple and gooseberry with notes of green melon, hedgerow, nettle and freshly cut grass, lifted by a hint of zesty lime.

The palate is dry, light and delicately aromatic, with bright, zippy acidity and a clean, mineral edge. Flavours are pure and linear, showing excellent balance and freshness, leading to a crisp, refreshing finish.

Pairs beautifully with

Oysters; mussels; grilled white fish; fresh salads; asparagus dishes; light goat’s cheese

Vegetarian and Vegan-friendly. Contains Sulphites.

hammered heron

Here every day. Hammering the fish.

Our resident heron is one of the vineyard’s most reliable visitors.

Day after day, he takes up position by the water, standing perfectly still and patiently waiting. Then, in a flash, that long beak strikes – and another unfortunate fish disappears.

Hammered Heron might sound like he’s enjoyed one glass too many, but it’s actually the fish population that takes the hammering.

Patient, precise and remarkably persistent, he certainly knows how to earn his dinner.

He’s not hammered. The fish are.
